Global authorities are increasingly applying established cybersecurity and data-protection frameworks to manage AI risks. Nigeria, Kenya, and Indonesia now use data-protection templates as their primary entry point for AI governance (Ray Sun from Ctrl+AI+Reg). China integrated AI duties into its Cybersecurity Law in October 2025 and issued network data security risk assessment measures in June 2026. When Anthropic disclosed its Mythos model in April 2026, which identifies software vulnerabilities, the European Commission and financial regulators in the United Kingdom, Japan, and South Korea responded within weeks by leveraging existing general-purpose model obligations.

Subject matter experts remain the most effective defense against the evaluation gap inherent in these tools. A preliminary June 2026 study of 400,000 Claude Code sessions found that expert users reached verified success twice as often as novices (Patrick Neeman from AI for UX Substack). These practitioners identify failures in generated output that non-experts miss, such as dropped indemnity exceptions in legal contracts or incorrect usage caps in pricing models. As the issue on Monday showed, persistent logs of human interventions remain a critical component for maintaining these boundaries.

Perform an 'expert-led audit' on a recent AI-generated output from your team.

Select a task where you possess deep domain knowledge, then manually verify the output against your own standards.

You need

  • A recent output produced by an AI agent in your workflow
  • Your own domain-specific documentation or requirements

Steps

  1. Select an AI-generated artifact relevant to your daily work.
  2. List the specific constraints or industry standards that apply to this task.
  3. Compare the AI output line-by-line against your list.
  4. Mark any discrepancies where the AI deviates from your domain requirements.
